Carrier I what?

With all the media attention surrounding Carrier IQ, some people out there are wondering what the hell it's all about. Carrier IQ is an app located on most smart phone operating systems from Android, RIM, and even IOS. It's not something the common user can access or even see. Most android hackers out there have known about this issue for quite sometime. They have even found ways to remove it.

What does it do? Carrier IQ records your browsing history and location and sends it to your carrier so they may better their network services to the customer. At least that's what it's supposed to do. What does it really do. Well a fellow hacker at XDA developers named Trever Eckhart uncovered some even more shocking processes when he dug into the app. Apparently this app can also record your keystrokes which could lead to a massive security flaw for users. Yes that's right not even Apple or Blackberry fans are safe. With such information someone could easily find your bank account password, social security number or who knows what else.  I am sure many class action suits will come from this firestorm and it could change the smart phone world as we know it.

Carrier IQ has denied that it's software is capable of recording so much information. You be the judge, below is a video of Trevor showing what this mysterious app really does.

ICS for all!

Today is not just any other day for all you android fans out there. In fact today is the day that Google has unleashed ICS for any and all who want it. What does this mean and why should you be excited? With the source code released all manufacturers can begin working on it for your particular device. For all you developers out there you can now begin working on your own custom rom. If you're a  developer and would like to download the source it can be found here. Keep in mind that it may be some time before you get an update if at all, but with this news you can be sure that it won't be long before we start seeing the updates roll out to some of the newer devices. Motorola has all ready confirmed that the Droid Razr will be getting  Ice Cream Sandwich within 6 weeks of the source release date. I personally can't wait to see what devices get the update first. Do you think your phone will be getting ICS. Let me know in the comments section below.

Sorry I haven't been giving any news lately. I have been dealing with some personal issues, so please forgive me. With that said I would like to inform the many android faithful out there that are tired of the iphone commercials featuring siri and its artificial intelligence and want more functionality from their android handset. Now we all know that Android has had voice commands since the release of Froyo and that for the most part it added a whole new world of possibilities for our handsets. If you would like to have the same features that siri offers for your android phone then I recommend you try the "Voice Actions" app from Pannous. They have a free and plus version for 2.99 in the android market. This app will do various tasks for you such as setting alarm, text friends and answer most questions you can ask. It is constantly being updated and in my opinion offers the best android equivalent to Crapples voice command. Get it today and let me know what you think about it in the comments section below.

The future of unlimited data on the Now Network.

As of last week those of you with Sprints wi-fi tethering plan will now be capped at 5gig every month. Charges will apply for any overages beyond the new limit. I personally root every android phone I own and have been able to avoid paying for this extra feature. This news from Sprint however has fueled new speculation as to if and when sprint will begin to cap it's unlimited data plan. People around the interwebs have been sounding off as to this possible move. Well you can rest easy as Chief Technology officer Stephen Bye spoke out for the company on it's continuing promise to be the only carrier to offer such a perk. With all the need for extra bandwith from today's smartphone users, the promise may one day see an end. Until then all you " Now Network" members, enjoy it while you can. Do you think Sprint will eventually bring an end to this luxury? Let me know what you think in the comment section below, and as always don't forget to subscribe for more news and reviews.

With the many Android phones floating around this crazy rock we call home, one has many choices on a mobile device to fit their life best. Each manufacturer from HTC to Samsung equips their handsets with custom skinned versions of android. From Moto's new deblurred UI to Samsung's latest version of Touchwiz. These phones all have their unique traits and functionality. What I do wonder though is with all the effort they put into these roms; what do customers think of it after they get the device home. We all know that Samsung's first version of touchwiz on the original Galaxy S had a cartoonish look that closely resembled that of the iphone. I for one was not fan. I owned a Samsung Vibrant for a little over a year and with the exception of the first week I kept it hidden with a custom launcher. I for one prefer both ADW and Launcher pro not only for their clean looks but also their ability to be customized. They offer a great alternative for someone wanting to spruce up their android handset and both are free to download in the market. With that said. I ask do you have a custom launcher installed on your phone; or do you prefer to keep it all stock. Let me know in the comment section below, and don't forget to subscribe.

Should Small Providers Offer Better Phones?

With the big four carriers out there offering some of the best mobile phones to date. I ask should the smaller carriers such as Boost, Cricket, and Virgin, offer better Android devices. Cricket has been skating by with the Huawei Ascend for over a year now and not much has been said if any new devices will be coming. Boost on the other hand has two smart phones on their shelves with the Motorola il and the Samsung Prevail. All three phones fall short of offering a 1ghz processor, the Prevail being the best with it's 800 mghz chip set. None of the three offer a camera above 3 megapixels nor a led flash for your low light situations. Although these phones are still capable of giving the owner enjoyment. You might pay more for these devices at the counter, but the lack of an overpriced contract makes up for it. I ask though if these carriers were to offer more stellar mid-range devices, would you be willing to pay more up front? Please let me know in the comments section below, and don't for get to show us some love by subscribing to our site or liking us on Facebook.

Galaxy S2 Variants Announced

Today Sprint, AT&T, and T-mobile announced their versions of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone. For months the only way one could get their hands on this "Prizefighter", was to order it from overseas at the average price of 800 dollars before shipping. With its specs this phone (at the moment) is the phone to rule all phones. It's the hottest selling android device around the world, and is so deservedly.  While I am sure that it's reign will come to an end since android phones hit the shelves at such a rapid pace. I ask will you be buying this phone? Let me know in the comments section below.

Which Super phone do you desire?

With all these dual-core large high resolution display mobile devices flooding the market it's like adderall for your add. There are many on the shelves as we speak. The Motorola Photon 4g (my current device), the Evo 3d, Moto Atrix, Droid Bionic, and the LG G2x, just to name a few. All these phones come out of the box with the latest version of Android their respective U.I. gives the consumer a uniquely different experience. Although they come with relatively different hardware, you won't be disappointed with those powerful processors. With that out of the way, the question begs. Which Super phone will you be buying? Let me know in the comment section.

Photon 4g custom rom review.

I recently installed the Alien 1 rom by xda member Kennethpenn. I have to say that it is absolutely beautiful. I love the way he incorporated all the stock android goodness that we have so desperately been craving. He did how ever keep those motorola extra that one can appreciate. For instance although swype has been removed he did keep the moto multi touch keyboard in the mix (with black and green theme of course). I am not a fan of the gingerbread keyboard so this was a nice addition. You can still find that wonderful crt shutoff animation present as it seems none of us could live with out it. If you haven't flashed this rom yet I will be providing a video review of it on youtube and will add the link to this page. If you do flash this rom please don't forgive to give thanks or donate to Kennethpenn or any of the other developers, for without them we would not have this wonderful rom or any in the future. Don't forget to subscribe to my blog or youtube channel for further news and reviews.
